Webinar: The Current Drought in Nevada – How did it develop and how can you prepare for the summer?

April 22, 2021 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Dry and warm conditions throughout much of the last two years have led to drought across all of Nevada. Because the winter rain and snow season is drawing to a close, the drought is likely to persist into the summer. Fortunately, there are resources to prepare for the current drought, and the next one, because dealing with drought is part of living in Nevada.

Presenter, Steph McAfee is the State Climatologist for Nevada, as well as an associate professor in the Geography Department and with University of Nevada Extension. She is a service climatologist interested in how climate change and variability impact water resources, ecological systems, and how people go about their daily lives. She works on questions related to climate in Alaska and the western U.S. When not at work, she enjoys knitting, cross-country skiing, hiking, and devising ways to keep the deer from devouring everything in her garden.
