SUMMARY:Metal Manufacturing & Fabrication Training – Week 6
DESCRIPTION:Week 6 covers Using Lean Manufacturing to uncover opportunities. This course explains how to use over a dozen lean principles for optimal performance in metal manufacturing. It will look at it from the unique perspective of using lean to reduce material use and waste. These techniques reduce waste such as time\, labor and rework\, by using environmental metrics to identify value. It is good for experienced lean practitioners or as an introduction to lean manufacturing.

SUMMARY:Safer Alternatives for Toxic Solvents - Graffiti Management
DESCRIPTION:A series of four (4) trainings will be given by Katy Wolf\, Ph.D. and hosted by greenUP! \nThis session will describe the graffiti removers on the market today. Millions of dollars are spent each year on graffiti control by cities and counties and safer alternatives are available. It will include a discussion of three alternative safer graffiti removers that were formulated and tested by the Institute for Research and Technical Assistance (IRTA)\, a nonprofit organization during an EPA project conducted in California. It will also include a description of many other processes and technologies that can be used for graffiti management. The costs of the alternatives will be discussed.

SUMMARY:Safer Alternatives for Toxic Solvents - Auto Repair Facilities
DESCRIPTION:A series of four (4) trainings will be given by Katy Wolf\, Ph.D. and hosted by greenUP! \nThis session will target the mineral spirits used in parts cleaners and the halogenated and nonhalogenated solvents used in auto aerosol cleaners today. Many of these formulations have high VOC content and many pose toxicity problems. It will focus on the water-based cleaning formulation alternatives for parts cleaning\, water-based brake cleaning formulations and equipment and safer formulations for other aerosol cleaners that were formulated and tested by IRTA in California auto repair facilities. The costs of the alternatives will be presented and discussed.

SUMMARY:National Carbon Pricing and Nevada (PSN Nevada Climate Forum)
DESCRIPTION:Michelle Hamilton\, Nevada Co-Coordinator\, Citizens’ Climate Lobby will present at the next PSN Nevada Climate Forum Event. \nWhat are the prospects for national climate legislation in the 2025 US Congress? Can carbon pricing laws in other industrialized countries shine a light on what works? Carbon pricing places a cost on greenhouse gas (GHG) pollution to encourage substitution of dirty fossil energy with clean energy. Citizens’ Climate Lobby advocates for legislation in four key policy areas\, including a national carbon fee on fossil fuels at the point of extraction based on their carbon pollution\, while returning the revenue to households to protect low- and middle-income households.  This policy also addresses international competitiveness of imports and exports with a carbon border adjustment mechanism (CBAM).\n \n
